CBSE Class 12 Result 2021 has left many students dissatisfied. Though over 53% students have shared that they are satisfied, as many as one-third or 33% students are considering appearing for offline exams.

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE Results 2021 were announced on July 30, 2021 for Class 12. Following the declaration of the result, many students took to twitter or reached out to their schools, dissatisfied with their results – suggesting widespread dissatisfaction. In a survey conducted by WorldGrad, 53% of the students rated as satisfied with their CBSE Results 2021. On the other hand nearly 24% students rated as being extremely dissatisfied with one-third of the respondents wishing to appear for CBSE Board Exams 2021.

This year, the board examination for Class 12 was cancelled in view of the pandemic. Instead, the students have been awarded marks on the basis of their past performance in Class 10, 11 and internal exams conducted by Class 12. Many Class 12 students, however, have felt that they have not been awarded as per their expectations.

In the survey, 53% students rated their satisfaction with the board results as either 4 or 5 with 5 being extremely satisfied. 24% students rated 1 or 2 which is extremely dissatisfied. A third of the students were considering to appear for the offline examination for a chance at re-assessment. Nearly 16000 students participated in the survey.

Among the other grievances, nearly 70% students were unhappy because of the delay in the declaration of the result and its impact on their study abroad plans. Sharon Saji from Kochi said that the board spoiled her study abroad plans. Anubhav Malick from Rourkela said that the CBSE results “Pulled down the good students to average level.”

Aryan Bhati from Delhi NCR said that the results are biased. “People who were not even around me got percentage more than me,” he shared. Antra Johri, like many students, shared that she would have scored better if the exams would have been conducted. Many students, however shared their satisfaction. Aryan Vijayan from Gurgaon shared, “I am satisfied with my result. But could do  more better if my exams were taken.”

For many students, the concern was also regarding the moderation and including past year performance. Even though the overall result of CBSE is higher this year (pass percentage of 99.37% was recorded which is 10% higher than 2020 and 16% higher than 2019), students are of the opinion that weaker students have benefitted more than top performers.

Talking about the survey, Abhinav Mital, Founder of The WorldGrad said “This is new for everyone, and we expected conflicting opinions from students as well. Their entire higher education depends on these scores and how universities across the globe perceive them. We had already started pre-enrolment as soon as the delay was announced, this allowed a lot of our study abroad aspirants to enrol in advance, irrespective of their results. Continuing this, we are keeping the enrollment open for students who are still toying with the idea of enrolling for studies abroad this year.”
