The WorldGrad, a leading hybrid study abroad and learning platform, is the first edtech platform in the overseas education industry which is also making students job-ready. It has announced virtual internships for students to prepare them for work experience as well as create a network of virtual connections to succeed. The virtual internship announced by the platform engages with over 4000 host companies from 79 countries. To name a few among them – Rouse, Capgemini, Pingan, Virgin Atlantic, Asian Development Bank, and Dentons. 10% of all host companies’ supervisors are CEOs or CFOs and 6% of supervisors are Directors.
The Internship program is designed to build full support around the internship and requires weekly touchpoints with the employer and interns. Students who want to gain international work experience can enroll and complete the internship at their own comfort, by working for 10, 20, 30, hours per week for 1-4 months. All students are guaranteed online internship placement in one of their career fields. The program is grounded in the NACE 8 career readiness competencies with a focus on leadership, teamwork, and communication. This internship allows students to focus on any particular country or multiple countries for placement options.
Talking about this first-of-its-kind initiative, Abhinav Mital, Founder, and CEO, of The WorldGrad, has stated, “The ultimate goal of the Virtual Internship program is to elevate confidence and required skills in students. This will aid students in securing a well-paid and meaningful job. Students will also get the opportunity to know more about another culture, learn new communication styles, and local digital trends. The program is offering students the opportunity to create global networks with like-minded people.”
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (US) released their 2021 Job Outlook report noting, “Employers continue to indicate that internship experience is the deciding factor between two otherwise equally qualified candidates.” On a point 5 scale, internships were weighted at 4.3 with majors 3.8 and the school attended far down at 2.5. Students can stand out in the future by opting for this virtual internship. According to Pew Research, 62% of workers with a bachelor’s degree or higher education had jobs that could be performed remotely, nearly triple the share of those with no post-secondary education.
The WorldGrad aims to increase skill and provide full-time meaningful work to students through this virtual internship. The platform is willing to improve work-based learning opportunities for students across the globe.
